기계공작법을 필수 학과목으로 공부하는 기계공학도들이 지침서로 활용할 수 있도록 다음과 같이 엮었다.
첫째, 공작기계의 이론을 개략적으로 이해하고 원리를 터득하여 실제 기구, 부품의 가공기술과 연계하여 산업현장의 실무에 적용할 수 있도록 하였다.
둘째, 활용도가 높은 공작기계는 각론에서 선삭, 연삭, 형삭 등에 관한 이론 및 특성, 가
공방법과 같은 실무적응에 필요한 내용을 이해하기 쉽게 수록하였고, 품질관리를 위한 측정 관련 이론 및 특성, 사용방법 등을 함께 기술하였다.
셋째, 가능한 한 간결하면서도 체계적으로 엮고자 했으며 단원별로 표와 그림 예시를 제
시하여 학습의 이해를 도왔다.
